Good Character: Honesty

3. freedom from deceit or fraud.

February was Sister Girl's month to shine. She bounded off the bus yesterday with a big smile on her face. She'd been chosen as her class's Good Character winner for the month of February for displaying the character trait of honesty. I am delighted that she demonstrates this trait. I can't help but think that as a young Christian girl, this is a trait that will help her demonstrate her faith in a very simple but authentic way to those she interacts with each and every day. As you see in the definition, honesty is more than just telling the truth. It is freedom from deceit or fraud. It is living a life that is fair, sincere and honorable. Honesty is spoken of quite often in the Bible and is a standard we as Christians are expected to meet. Proverbs 12:22 tells us that the Lord delights in those who are truthful. It is my prayer that both girls will always live honest, authentic Christian lives.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
