Shhhh, It's a Secret
The Man is on his way home as I type. It's just for a few days but he's coming home. We didn't tell the girls because he wanted it to be a surprise. He's going to wake them up for school in the morning. I bet you hear their squeals where you are. I cannot wait to see their faces. It's going to be so nice to have him home.

Because I Need To Be Reminded
Because I need to be reminded almost constantly these days:
Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 4:6-7
So I've had one of those weeks, you know, one of those weeks. Nothing really horrible just lots of little things that get under your skin and irritate you if you're not careful. I have been feeling tired, overwhelmed and whiny and well, that's just not any fun for anyone. I've tried to write a blog post on several occasions but they just sounded selfish and whiny so I waited for the attitude adjustment which finally seems to have arrived. Thankfully it arrived just in time. Sister was diagnosed with H1N1 today. She came home early from school yesterday with a fever. I took her to the doctor his morning and they confirmed what I suspected. Her symptoms are mild and hopefully this will be short lived.
Last week my Dad came up and we painted and painted and painted. It seemed never-ending at the time. We painted the front entryway, front hallway, livingroom, master bath and basement playroom. We also managed to close the pool while he was here and he installed new fixtures in the girls' bathroom and mowed my lawn. He's a good dad like that. It was a productive week and I am so grateful for his help.
So I have nothing on the agenda for the next few days now but to take care of my sick child, try to keep the other child healthy and keep the status quo around the house. I can handle that, right? Yea, and this is where I refer back to the verse above.

Through The Lens Thursday #9
As I mentioned yesterday, we got to spend the weekend with The Man. I have to say, my kids have become great travelers. Really, 11 hours in the car is not a lot of fun but my girls were troopers. We were welcomed into Florida by a crazy thunderstorm which stretched our trip down a bit beyond 11 hours but we did eventually arrive safely at our destination. I have never seen two little girls quite so happy to see their dad as mine were Friday night. We were all so glad to be together, if only for the weekend. We spent most of the weekend at the beach where The Man and I relaxed and talked while the girls jumped waves and built sandcastles. It was just all too short but we'll take what we can get.

Wordless Wednesday-Beach Preview
We spent Labor Day Weekend with The Man. It was so great to see him!!! We spent much of Saturday and Sunday at the beach where I had a little fun with my camera while we watched the kids play.

Coming Up For Air
I just wanted to pop in and say hello! I've been getting some of the much needed painting out of the way here this week. Our neighbor had some wonderful neutral colored paint left over from a basement remodel project that she let us have. I picked it up Sunday afternoon. My first project was the basement entryway. Our basement is half garage, half living space so the basement entryway is the area of the house that gets the most traffic. I'm pretty sure the paint in that area was the original paint from when the house was built in 1995. Needless to say, there were a lot of scuff marks on the walls and it was pretty dingy looking. Thankfully, I was able to knock that project out of the way quickly
Yesterday afternoon I moved on to the girls bathroom. You know, unless you buy new pretty much every house has that problem room. In this house, the girls bathroom is it. I have managed to hide my head in the sand and ignore it for the last three years. But since we're selling the house, it needed to be addressed. The previous owners appear to have been inspired to add a little texture to the walls in this bathroom. It looked like they took sand and mixed it into the paint and put it on the wall. Unfortunately, it did not go on evenly but in clumps and there was also a lot of drippage. It was really not a good look. I scraped down the walls and then sanded them yesterday. Today I have put on the first coat of paint and hope to finish it up tonight. I also bought new satin nickel accessories to replace the original brass ones. Even with the scraping and sanding, the walls still have a textured look to them but at least they're not clumpy anymore. I had actually dreamed of covering the walls in beadboard and replacing the vanity with a pedestal sink. Oh, well, sanded walls and new paint will have to do. I'll be sure to post pictures when I get the project done. Until then, I'm off.........
Happy Tuesday!
